Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Prudhomme International collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit our website or make a purchase. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy was last updated in April 2026.

What Information We Collect

When you place an order, create an account, or contact us, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and delivery address
  • Payment details (processed securely — we do not store full card numbers)
  • Order history and product preferences
  • Communications you send to us (emails, enquiries)
  • Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and browsing behaviour on our site (via cookies)

We collect only what is necessary to fulfil your order and improve your experience with us.

How We Use Your Information

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Processing and fulfilling your orders, including arranging delivery
  • Sending you order confirmations, shipping updates, and receipts
  • Responding to your enquiries and providing customer support
  • Complying with our legal obligations (e.g. keeping financial records)
  • Sending you marketing emails or newsletters — only with your explicit consent, and you may opt out at any time
  • Improving our website and understanding how customers use it

We will never sell your personal information to third parties, nor use it for purposes beyond those listed above without your knowledge.

Our Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under the following legal grounds:

  • Contract performance — to fulfil your orders and provide the services you request
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable UK laws and regulations
  • Legitimate interests — to operate and improve our business in ways that do not override your rights
  • Consent — for marketing communications, where you have opted in

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share it with trusted third parties only where necessary to run our business:

  • Delivery providers — to ship your order (e.g. Royal Mail, courier services)
  • Payment processors — to securely handle transactions (they are fully PCI-DSS compliant)
  • Website platform or e-commerce providers — to power our online shop
  • Legal authorities — if required by law or to protect our legal rights

All third-party providers we use are bound by their own privacy obligations and are not permitted to use your data for any other purpose.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to help us understand how visitors use our site and to improve your experience. These may include:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g. shopping basket)
  • Analytics cookies — to understand site usage (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Preference cookies — to remember your settings

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time, though this may affect site functionality.

Delivery & Orders

We deliver within the United Kingdom only, using standard delivery at a flat rate of £6, with free delivery on orders over £35. Your delivery address and contact details are shared with our courier solely for the purpose of fulfilling your order.

Returns & Food Products

As the majority of our products are food items, please be aware that for health and hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept returns on food products that have been opened, unsealed, or tampered with in any way.

However, we will gladly offer a refund or replacement in the following circumstances:

  • Your item arrives damaged or visibly faulty
  • You receive an incorrect item
  • The product is out of date or compromised upon arrival

If you have an issue with your order, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a description and, where possible, a photograph. We will work with you to resolve the matter promptly. Non-food items (e.g. packaging, hamper boxes) may be returned in original unused condition within 14 days.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary. Order and transaction records are kept for up to 6 years in accordance with UK tax law. If you have opted into marketing communications, we will retain your contact details until you unsubscribe. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us directly.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations)
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — opt out of marketing at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are dissatisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Payment transactions are encrypted and processed by secure, compliant payment providers. No method of data transmission is 100% secure, but we take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting it.
